Sharon holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Calgary, showcasing her diverse educational background. Sharon is committed to giving back to society and promoting the importance of strong communities. Her leadership style is characterized by a collaborative and innovative approach, which she utilizes while working with the board and staff. At the Genesis Centre, Sharon’s creativity shines as she navigates unique challenges, necessitating innovative solutions.

Yuvraj Singh Secretary
Yuvraj Singh is a 3rd-year Biological Sciences undergraduate student at the University of Calgary. He is a student researcher, avid community leader and mentor for high school students. As a senior executive of the TUXIS Youth Parliament of Alberta and community organizer, providing resources for the vulnerable and academic support for students are key aspects of his outreach. He does this through community projects working with law enforcement, government officials, humanitarian organizations and schools across the city.
Tiffany Novotny Director at Large
Tiffany is a life long Calgarian (born and raised) with over 16 years of work experience in environmental science, public administration, government policy and business management. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Calgary. She has two extremely active children that keep her and her husband running off their feet moving from one activity to the next. Together they enjoy skiing, biking, swimming, and hiking. Tiffany believes in supporting strong, healthy communities and is committed to ensuring Calgary and its communities are thriving for generations yet to come.
Sukhvinder Malhotra Director-at-Large & Saddle Ridge CA. Rep
With a background in IT, Sukhvinder has been volunteering in the community through various roles since moving to Calgary from Ontario in 2007. He started building community connections by volunteering as a soccer coach for 4 years. He was involved with Khalsa School Calgary for 13 years since its opening in 2007, as Chairperson of the Parent Advisory Council and held various positions on the School Board for over 9 years, including the Board Chairperson. Sukhvinder has also been a part of the Nelson Mandela Parent Council and currently serves on the Saddle Ridge Community Association Board, as President of the Raven Ridge Condo Board and as a White Hat volunteer at Calgary Airport. He has a passion for giving back to the community in every way possible.
Greg Steiner Director-at-Large
Greg is credited with the original vision for a recreational leisure centre on behalf of the northeast residents above McKnight Blvd. For 15 years he has worked tirelessly from the initial planning stages to the final opening of the new Genesis Centre of Community Wellness. Having served on the design, construction, and fund development committees, he continues to work towards accomplishing the overall vision and mandate of the Northeast Centre of Community Society (NECCS), of which he is a founding member. Having lived in Saddle Ridge for over 32 years, Greg has served in various executive capacities for Saddle Ridge Community Association, a founding partner of NECCS.
Manroop Dhariwal Director-at-Large
Born and raised in Calgary, Manroop has always had a strong inclination for giving back to his community. He completed his Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting undergraduate program at the Haskayne School of Business. Manroop has also successfully completed his CPA designation and currently has over 8 years of experience working in various roles in the energy industry. In his spare time, Manroop loves to engage in various physical activities. He enjoys soccer, basketball, exploring the outdoors and most importantly spending quality time with his family.
Wes Hynd Director-at-Large & Martindale CA.Rep
Wes is a community-oriented leader who has spent the last 15 years in the non-profit and charitable organization sector, most recently as a local church pastor and Community Association board member (Martindale). He and his wife Nadine moved to Northeast Calgary a couple of years ago because they wanted to invest in the communities here by living life alongside their neighbours and looking for ways to contribute to their flourishing. They love playing with the kids on their street, hosting backyard fires and BBQ’s, and helping to create a safe and interconnected community. They are also currently in the process of adopting a child from Thailand. Previously, Wes worked at Calgary’s two universities with a student organization called Power to Change, providing opportunities for mentoring and dialogue about life’s deepest questions, and giving direction to overseas mission trips and partnerships in Latin America. He holds a Bachelor of Journalism (Carleton University, Ottawa) and a Master of Divinity (Reformed Theological Seminary, Orlando), and loves soccer, music, philosophy, and learning languages!
Bo Feng NEW Director-at-large
Bo has spent the majority of his life in Calgary and frequently visits recreational facilities to play sports and stay active. As a regular participant in sports and fitness, Bo looks forward to contributing strategic value to the Genesis Centre’s future and being an active leader within our communities. Growing up, he enjoyed basketball, soccer, badminton, and fitness – as he got older and experienced various sporting injuries, his focus shifted from actively participating in competitive sports to community and professional leadership. Professionally, Bo is a licensed professional engineer and worked in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors in Alberta and British Columbia. Bo holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Calgary, and is a Certified Associate in Project Management with the Project Management Institute. In his spare time, Bo enjoys outdoor activities, reading, traveling, and visiting car shows.
Al Louie NEW Director-at-large
Born and raised in northeast Calgary, Al is passionate about helping individuals, organizations, and communities reach their full potential. Professionally, he is an experienced public servant that has led economic analysis for the Government of Ontario, budgeting processes for the City of Calgary, and energy and environmental initiatives for the Government of Canada. Outside of work, he enjoys running, travelling, attending athletic and cultural events, and volunteering on his condo board. Al holds a Bachelor of Arts from Gonzaga University, a Master of Arts from the University of Toronto, and is completing a Certificate in Organizational Coaching from the University of British Columbia.

Sherry King Executive Director
Sherry joined the Genesis Centre team in 2011 prior to the completion of the Genesis Centre. Prior to that she was a key volunteer with the NECCS Board of Directors “Completing the Dream Together” Capital Campaign with one of her fondest memories being the ground-breaking ceremony of the Genesis Centre of Community Wellness shared with her middle son. Sherry has lived, worked and been heavily involved in North East Calgary her entire life. She strongly believes in giving back and the need for strong communities. She is a busy mother of 3 boys who enjoys getting out and being active especially with Geocaching, camping and hiking.

Mohammad Zahed Executive Assistant
Mohammad joined the Genesis Centre in 2014 as a Facility Attendant and has since worn many hats to help improve operations. Working with the Guest Services department during his time at university, he gained front line experience as well as leadership experience in his role as a Shift Lead and Supervisor. Mohammed also pursued a Bachelor of Commerce degree, specializing in Human Resources, from the University of Calgary, graduating in 2018. With his academic background and practical experience, he currently holds the position of Executive Assistant at the Genesis Centre.

Nadeem Khan Finance & HR Manager
Nadeem is a dedicated professional in the fields of Finance, admin and HR. He carries a degree in business administration. Before joining the Genesis administration team, he was on the Board and was member of Audit & Finance Committee for over six years. After moving to Canada in 2008, he worked for almost nine years with the City of Calgary in the fields of general administration, HR and Finance. Nadeem has been a passionate volunteer for over 30 years. He enjoys camping and hiking and the wonderful fresh mountain air.

Jonah Ardiel Business Development Manager
Jonah first joined the Genesis Centre in 2017, as the organization’s Canada 150 Coordinator, wherein he developed a year-long of programming under the federal Canada 150 program. Following this, he joined the organization’s Board of Directors and sat as a member of the Sustainability & Stakeholders’ Relations Committee. Jonah brings expertise in the field of marketing and communications, organizational strategy, program coordination, and a broad knowledge of not-for-profits and charities across Calgary. Recreationally, Jonah is a short fiction writer, avid runner, cinephile, and enjoys spending time in the nearby Rocky Mountains as much as possible.

Ivan Ha Marketing Coordinator
Ivan’s journey with the Genesis Centre started in 2019 when he joined as a marketing summer student. After completing his degree in marketing, he gained valuable experience in the e-commerce industry and developed his skills in UX/UI design before returning to the Genesis Centre as a Marketing Coordinator. In his free time, Ivan is an active sports enthusiast who enjoys playing volleyball and squash, as well as hiking in nature and attending music festivals. Additionally, he is an avid board game enthusiast and enjoys embarking on culinary adventures with friends and family.

Doug Taggart Building Operations Manager
Doug joined the Genesis team in April 2015. He provides leadership and operational experience to the Building Operations and Custodial department. He has 30 years of operational experience while working for the City of Calgary Recreation department. He operated Arenas and Athletic parks such as the Max Bell Centre and Shouldice Arena / Athletic park.

Kanwar Pannu Guest Services Associate
Kanwar joined the Genesis Centre team in 2014 as a Facility Attendant. He has a Masters Degree in Physical Education and began working as a Physical Education Teacher/Lecturer in 4 different institutions in India before moving to Canada in 2013.

Dwayne Collins Guest Services Supervisor
Dwayne joined the Genesis Centre in January 2019. He holds degrees in Business Administration, Management Studies, and Health & Physical Education. Previously, he was an Event Coordinator at Mount Royal University. Before moving to Canada, in his native country of Jamaica, he was a firefighter and member of the Caribbean search and rescue team. Outside of work, he is passionate about family and bodybuilding.

Rosa Sandoval Guest Services Supervisor
Since December 2016, Rosa has been a valued member of the Genesis Centre team, holding multiple positions such as Custodian, Facility Attendant, and Guest Services Shift Lead. As a Guest Services Supervisor, Rosa is responsible for providing exceptional customer support with a friendly and helpful demeanor. Before joining the recreation industry, Rosa worked in early childhood development as a support unit. In her spare time, she loves to read and explore the Rockies on hiking trips with her family.

Loveleen Kapoor Community Wing Coordinator
Loveleen joined the Genesis Centre team in October 2020 as a guest services representative. She brings a background in the tourism and hospitality industry, having worked in several five star hotels in India before moving to Canada in 2016. Once in Canada, Loveleen fulfilled an office administrative position in the real estate business.

Amy Inkster Events Assistant
Amy joined the Genesis Centre in September of 2022 as an Event Assistant. She brings a diverse background of event management, community engagement and graphic design skills to the Events Team at the Genesis Center. Previously she worked in non-profit fundraising roles helping local charities coordinate galas, conferences, and sporting events. Amy holds a BFA in Fine Art and a Diploma in Digital Design.

Kareem is a multi-talented individual with 9 different positions under his belt at the Genesis Centre. Kareem always carries around a positive attitude and a willingness to help those around him. In his spare time, he loves playing basketball and volunteering in his community.
