Northeast Calgary thrive mentorship program
The Genesis Centre and Calgary Surge have teamed up to launch an exciting mentorship pilot project, designed to support youth in Northeast Calgary. Running from January 7th to March 25th, 2025, this 12-week program aims to build a stronger community by connecting youth with positive adult role models through sports and meaningful conversations.

The program will take place every Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Genesis Centre – Multipurpose Room (A). Mentors and mentees will engage in weekly activities, with guest speakers joining every 3-4 weeks to inspire and share their stories.
We’re looking for adult mentors, originally from the Northeast, who have chosen a positive path and are eager to help youth reach their full potential. Our target mentees are high school-aged at-risk youth from the Northeast, though anyone interested is welcome to join.
What to expect:
- Mentors are expected to commit to at least 60 minutes each week, provide guidance, share experiences, and support their mentees in building toward their career goals
- Mentees should be open, receptive to feedback, and ready to engage positively throughout the program
- We’ll kick off with a mentor and mentee orientation in early January, followed by our first group introduction on January 7th.
- The program will wrap up with a celebration on March 25th, featuring a special guest
We believe this pilot will be a great success, and we’re already planning the next round for the new year, with even more opportunities for mentors and mentees to connect beyond the program. Let’s work together to make a difference in our community!
