Northeast Calgary thrive mentorship program
The Genesis Centre and Calgary Surge have teamed up to launch an exciting mentorship pilot project, designed to support at-risk youth in Northeast Calgary. Running from October 1st to December 17th, 2024, this 12-week program aims to build a stronger community by connecting youth with positive adult role models through sports and meaningful conversations.

The program will take place every Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Genesis Centre Community Gym. Mentors and mentees will engage in weekly activities, with guest speakers joining every 3-4 weeks to inspire and share their stories.
We’re looking for adult mentors, originally from the Northeast, who have chosen a positive path and are eager to help youth reach their full potential. Our target mentees are high school-aged at-risk youth from the Northeast, though anyone interested is welcome to join.
What to expect:
- Mentors are expected to commit to at least 60 minutes each week, provide guidance, share experiences, and support their mentees in building toward their career goals
- Mentees should be open, receptive to feedback, and ready to engage positively throughout the program
- We’ll kick off with a mentor and mentee orientation in mid-September, followed by our first group introduction on October 1st
- The program will wrap up with a celebration on December 17th, featuring a special guest
