Filipino ka ba Documentary film coming out this august
Dandylion productions along with the Philippine Calgary Festival Association is proud to announce the first Filipino Canadian Documentary that we have created.
Filipino Ka Ba? Which translated means are you Filipino? Explores the bicultural identity that Filipino Canadians face across generations. From looking into the historical context of Philippines to adapting to the Canadian way of life and looking into the future through a Filipino Canadian lens. We wanted to take the time to honor our ancestors, native culture, and make a legacy for the Filipino Canadian Community.
The making of this movie took more than a year to prepare, plan, and deliver continuously adapting to changing timelines, finding venues & subjects, along with the hard work of editing, shooting, and animating parts of the film.
Creating the poster for our film also involved a lot of trial and error however, the final product captures the spirit of what our documentary embodies.
Special thanks to all of our Team Members who have made this
possible!
While creating this documentary we learned more about who we are, the Filipino Culture, and the thread that binds the Filipino Canadian culture together.
While a lot of serious work was involved we didn’t forget the importance of team work and having fun throughout the process!
We would like to invite you to the 2 upcoming events that we have this year:
1) Our 4th year hosting the Filipino Calgary Summer Festival in Prairie Winds Park – we will have musical entertainment along with games and a variety of vendors! And of course let’s not forget the importance of free food!! (while supplies last of course)
2) The Premiere of our upcoming movie “Filipino Ka ba” if you would like to know more information about it please follow our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61560860824146
